International Commercial Arbitration in Korea and the Future of Dispute Resolution in Asia -- Mr. Heehwan Kwon, Director of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board

September 22, 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm – Classroom F

Come and join us for a dynamic discussion about Arbitration in Korea, and the future of Dispute Resolution in Asia!

The Republic of Korea is a hub for international business and one of the most dynamic countries in the world. Many industries and global enterprises coexist in the vibrant city of Seoul.

Korea is the first country in Asia to adopt the 1985 UNCITRAL Model Law, by amending its Arbitration Act in 1999. The adoption of the 2006 UNCITRAL Model Law in the Arbitration Act of 2016 reflects Korea's continuous effort to keep up with the international standards.
In 2016, Korea enacted the Arbitration Industry Promotion Act, which entered into force on 28th June, 2017. This law was passed to strengthen the arbitration infrastructure of Korea, by attracting more international arbitrations, building new facilities, and training future arbitration professionals. As part of Asia, Korea plays a significant role in the field of International Arbitration.

Join us on September 22, for a gourmet lunch and presentation with time for Q/A with the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board.
