Straus Students Compete at the Vis Moot Competitions
September 8, 2016 -- The Pepperdine University School of Law was once again a participant in the 2016 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moots, in both Vienna and in Hong Kong. The Vis Moot, one of the most reputable Arbitration moot competitions in the world, occurs annually in Vienna, Austria (for the last 23 years), and in Hong Kong (for 13 years). The last edition of the Moot (2015/2016) involved 313 teams from all over the world in Vienna, and another 112 teams in Hong Kong. Every year, the competition brings together between 2,500 and 3,000 students and young practitioners from around the globe.
The Pepperdine teams, advised by Professor Jack Coe and coached by Prof. Hilary Reed, Prof. Eric van Ginkel, Luis King and Márcio Vasconcellos, successfully represented the school in this year's moot, culminating with the Vienna Vis Team receiving an Honorable Mention for the Eric Bergsten Award for Best Claimant Memoranda.
So, congratulations to all the team members, and specially the oralists: Natalia Borta, Megan Hernandez, Jared Speier, Rebekah Rioth, Helen Andrews, David Boyadzhyan, Sikun Chen, and Wei Su. And thank you for representing Pepperdine so honorably!
