Pepperdine Caruso Law Celebrates International Education Week 2024

Pepperdine Caruso Law has long-established programs to provide students with the opportunity to explore other cultures and lived experiences. As such, we are delighted to celebrate International Education Week, established by the Department of State and Department of Education to encourage students to “expand horizons, make connections, and establish mutual understanding between people in the United States and other countries.” Two students who participated in Caruso Law’s study abroad programs reflect on those opportunities.

Third-year student Dylan Garrison had the opportunity to participate in both the Augsburg and London programs during his 2L year. He notes that “spending nearly 7 months in Europe taught me a lot about myself: mostly that I am a lot more capable and independent than I realized. The Augsburg program was especially enriching, as it really forced me to immerse myself in a brand new culture and lifestyle.” For Dylan, a major benefit to participating in both the London and Augsburg programs was the opportunity to travel across Europe and be exposed to a variety of histories and cultures. “By the time I made it to London, I had traveled to 6 different countries, and by the end of my time in London, I had made it to 10--something I could never have even imagined doing before then.”

Third-year student Anna Thede found the London program to be “a phenomenal opportunity to experience a unique city while keeping up with law school.” While Anna has done substantial travel before this experience, she still found this experience to be unique and completely worth the experience.

Both Dylan and Anna recommend participating in the programs. As Anna says, “The program is extremely unique for law school, I definitely recommend it if it works in your schedule.”
