Straus Institute Faculty Present at California State SELPA Meeting in Sacramento

Professors Sukhsimranjit Singh, Stephanie Blondell, and Aparna Gupta spoke at the bimonthly meeting of California State SELPA leaders in Sacramento, which took place on November 30-December 1, 2022. The Straus Institute has been a proud partner of the SELPA Administrators of California, having trained approximately 250 special education local plan areas and school districts across the state on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) strategies and processes.

The Straus professors presented an advanced training on the two conflict resolution strategies of questioning and decisionmaking, and engaged the participants with related exercises. The professors also presented data on the partnership thus far, eliciting feedback and insights from the participants.

“Our partnership with SELPA is of deep meaning to our Institute, as our work together is transforming the culture of conflict in special education across our state,” said Professor Singh.
