REMAND: final preview takes place at historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood

By Janette Blair | On Tuesday, April 12th, at the historic Grauman's Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, Pepperdine School of Law hosted a private screening of the final cut of REMAND, an upcoming Revolution Pictures documentary about the work by Pepperdine Law's Global Justice Program in Uganda.  This was the final preview screening after a tour that included stops in Texas, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C.

The film depicts the story of a simple suggestion made by two Pepperdine law students, which led to deep and systemic changes in the Ugandan criminal justice system.  These changes benefited thousands of people, including several prisoners desperate for justice whose powerful stories are told in this film. Viewers look deep into the faces of despair through the eyes of twelve law students as they meet these prisoners in their darkest hours and watch as the story unfolds and leads to dramatic change in the criminal justice system of an entire country.

The screening was preceded by a catered reception in the courtyard, and was followed by a Q&A and moderated panel. Alan Jackson, partner at Werksman Jackson Hathaway and Quinn, emceed the event and shared why he became involved in this important project.
