Professor David Han Receives Pepperdine University's Howard A. White Award for Teaching Excellence

Pepperdine School of Law is pleased to announce that Professor David S. Han has been honored with the Howard A. White Award for Teaching Excellence by Pepperdine University. The award honors teachers who inspire, stimulate, challenge, and motivate their students; teachers who develop in students the ability to think critically and creatively about the world; teachers who instill in their students a lifelong love of learning.

Professor Han teaches in the areas of First Amendment law, tort law, criminal procedure, and law and economics. Before joining the Pepperdine faculty, he was an Acting Assistant Professor of Lawyering at New York University School of Law. He also practiced as a litigation associate with Munger, Tolles and Olson in San Francisco, where he worked on a broad range of trial and appellate matters. His scholarship focuses on First Amendment law and tort law. His work has appeared in journals such as the New York University Law Review, Southern California Law Review, Emory Law Journal, William and Mary Law Review, Fordham Law Review, and Wisconsin Law Review.

The award is named for the fifth president of Pepperdine University, Dr. Howard A. White. During a career at Pepperdine that spanned almost 30 years, Dr. White served in a variety of faculty and administrative posts. He was an effective history professor, a respected scholar, a gifted administrator, and a faithful steward of the University's mission. Winners are selected by a committee of school deans and former award recipients with approval by the University President and Provost.
