Pepperdine Caruso Law Hosts Middle Temple for Biennial Moot Court Exchange
The week of September 9, 2024, Pepperdine Caruso School of Law hosted colleagues from Middle Temple in London for their biennial moot court exchange. Founded in the Middle Ages, the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple Inn of Court is a venerable institution to train, mentor, and sustain barristers and chambers in the British system. On Thursday, September 12, in the Mendenhall Appellate Courtroom, three Middle Temple pupils, Erica Barker, Bear Voegt, and James Cairns, advocated in the friendly moot court competition opposite Pepperdine Caruso students, Aleena Shad and Diya Razdan.
Christa Richmond, the Director of Education at Middle Temple, and His Honour David Stockdale, KC, accompanied the English students. Judge Stockdale joined Pepperdine Caruso Professors Jeff Baker and Colleen Graffy, a Middle Temple bencher, on the bench to judge the rounds.
The Middle Temple has long been a vital partner to Caruso School of Law’s London Program. Every fall semester, Caruso Law students moot against teams from Middle Temple and others in the Royal Courts of Justice and other venues in London.
