Los Angeles Superior Court Recognizes Straus Students and Alumni

March 27, 2019 | As a part of Mediation Week in California, the Los Angeles Superior Court presented certificates of recognition to Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution students and alumni. The Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge recognized the mediators and settlement officers serving LASC civil litigants as a part of Mediator Recognition week. Master of Laws (LLM) student Rajat Kamboj and Master of Dispute Resolution (MDR) student Sarah Mirembe were in attendance to receive their certificates. Numerous alumni including Mark Lemke, Wendy Fassberg, and Chris Welch were also present.

From the Los Angeles Superior Court:

"The Los Angeles Superior Court is pleased to recognize and thank a talented and skilled group of individuals for their service to the public as mediators and settlement officers," said Presiding Judge Kevin C. Brazile. "We know that people with legal disputes are often more satisfied with the outcomes of their cases when they are able to participate in mediation. The Court also benefits, as fewer cases go through lengthy and costly litigation, freeing up scarce court resources for other disputes. Mediation Week is an opportunity for the Court to say 'thank you' to those who help provide access to justice."
