Kathryn Peyton Receives the 2019 Scott H. Racine Award for Excellence in the Study of Taxation

April 18, 2019 | Pepperdine Law third-year student Kathryn Peyton has received the 2019 Scott H. Racine Award for Excellence in the Study of Taxation.  While a student at Pepperdine Law, Kathryn worked at an estate planning firm for a year where she discovered how much she enjoys tax and estate planning. She decided to pursue an LLM in taxation after completing her juris doctor degree so she would have more doctrinal knowledge in order to do advanced planning. In August, following the California bar exam, Kathryn will begin the tax LLM program at University of California, Irvine, as part of its inaugural class. After the one-year program, Kathryn hopes to secure a job where she advises clients in individual and business tax planning.

Kathryn says, "I am thankful for this award and appreciate the generosity of the donor. Further, I am grateful for the guidance that Professor Knaplund, Dean Brandt, and Dean Caron have provided me with in pursuing my passion in the field."

Congratulations to Kathryn.
