Interim dean announcement
November 3, 2016 -- The Provost of Pepperdine University, Rick Marrs, announced this morning that Dean Tacha will delay her retirement for one semester in lieu of an interim dean being appointed.
Dear Colleagues –
I would like to update you on the status of our selection for an interim dean at the law school for the spring semester. After significant discussions, I am delighted to announce that Dean Deanell Tacha has graciously agreed to continue for one more semester as dean so that we may forego having an interim dean during the spring. Vice Dean Shelley Saxer has also kindly agreed to continue in her role for an additional semester. I am confident these decisions will provide needed continuity at SOL as we engage in several important discussions throughout the remainder of this academic year.
I am deeply grateful to both of them for their willingness to help the law school as we move forward as quickly as possible with our search for a new dean. Dean Tacha will be dedicating significant amounts of her time to be on the Malibu campus during the spring semester so that operations continue to run smoothly at SOL. She will also be spending some time in Kansas with her family.
Please join me in expressing our appreciation to both Dean Tacha and Vice Dean Saxer for their willingness to give generously of their time and talents to improve our law school.
Rick R. Marrs
