Straus Institute Represented at 2019 Shanghai International Arbitration Week Main Forum
June 27, 2019 | Head of China Programs Sammy Liu and Straus LLM candidate Peter Neumann represented the Straus Institute at the 2019 Shanghai International Arbitration Week Main Forum, where Peter gave a presentation in Chinese titled, "The Challenge of the Singapore Convention to International Commercial Arbitration: Threat or Catalyst for Reform?"
Since joining Straus in January 2018, Sammy has expanded and deepened Straus's relationship in China's rapidly internationalizing arbitration community.
Sammy said, "China has some of the busiest arbitration centers in the world. The disruption
of the
U.S. - China trade war is driving increased demand for cross-border dispute resolution
services for
companies from both countries and their world-wide business partners. Straus's role
in educating
and training stakeholders in China's international arbitration community continues
to grow as it
gains recognition in China as a thought – leader in the field. I am very proud to
be part of this
effort."
Before joining the Straus Institute, Sammy worked as a senior attorney in a leading
Hong Kong-based
international commercial arbitration practice. She continues to draw on her extensive
network in
the Greater China arbitration community to develop opportunities to raise Straus's
global profile.
