Professor Maureen Weston Presents "The Intersection of Rights of Publicity, Lanham Act, and Generative Artificial Intelligence" -- Loyola Law School
Professor Maureen A. Weston presented "The Intersection of Rights of Publicity, Lanham Act, and Generative Artificial Intelligence" at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles on March 27. Professor Weston participated in a panel discussing the laws and policy considerations surrounding name, image, and likeness (NIL) issues, including the intersection of NIL and generative artificial intelligence. The panel was moderated by Jeffrey Martin, attorney advisor for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The panelist included Professor Weston; Russell Hollander, national executive director of the Directors Guild of America; Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, national executive director and chief negotiator for SAG-AFTRA; and Tearra Vaughn, associate general counsel of Meta.
The public symposium on artificial intelligence and intellectual property was held by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The symposium supports the USPTO directives under the presidential Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence.
