Professor Kris Knaplund Presents "Women and Wills in 1893 Los Angeles" -- LA Probate Court

April 1, 2019 | Professor Kristine S. Knaplund discussed her research into the probate files of Los Angeles County in 1893, when married women had increasing economic power and the right to execute a will without their husbands' consent. The legal education program was sponsored by Probate Judges David Cowan and Daniel Juarez, along with Probate Attorney and Pepperdine Law alumna Carmen Alberio (JD '79) and Research Attorney and Pepperdine Law alumnus Ryka Farotte (JD '15). The program was held on March 27 at the Los Angeles Probate Court, Department 5.
