Professor Helen Winter Presents “Meaningful Work in Peril? Preserving Self-Efficacy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" -- McGeorge School of Law

On October 18, professor Helen Winter presented her forthcoming commentary, “Meaningful Work in Peril? Preserving Self-Efficacy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” at the 17th Annual Alternative Dispute Resolution Work-In-Progress Conference at McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. In her presentation, Professor Winter argued that the experience of meaningful work is deeply connected to self-efficacy - an individual’s belief in their ability to perform tasks necessary to achieve specific goals.  She emphasized that self-efficacy, nurtured through meaningful work, is crucial for individual health, well-being, and societal cohesion. Professor Winter also made the argument that civil society representatives such as educators, ADR professionals, as well as policymakers, and the private sector must actively address AI-related challenges by developing strategies that cultivate meaning, self-efficacy, and societal cohesion.
