Pepperdine Caruso Law Holds Land Use Panel Featuring Prominent Municipality Leaders

On September 15th, 2022, Pepperdine Caruso School of Law’s Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law held a panel on land use featuring prominent local Los Angeles leaders.

Guest speakers included Malibu Mayor Paul Grisanti, Calabasas Council Member James Bozajian, State Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin representing Thousand Oaks, and Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko. The panel was moderated by land-use expert and Caruso Law professor Shelley Saxer.

A lively presentation and discussion was held with around fifty law student participants. Topics discussed ranged from the management and administration of land-use policies and legislation, critical environmental issues faced by California municipalities, as well as housing needs and barriers to entry.

Many of the topics discussed intersect with the missive and focus of Pepperdine’s Real Estate Investment Research Initiative course and the important legal metrics evaluated by the student
researchers to establish a data platform for real estate investor utilization.
