Patti Paniccia Law Scholarship for Parenting Students 2023-24 | Applications Open
The 2023-2024 Patti Paniccia Law Scholarship for parenting students now open This scholarship was funded by 1981 alumna, Patti Paniccia, who, in 1996, successfully settled a gender discrimination lawsuit against Turner Broadcasting/Cable News Network (CNN). Following the birth of her second child in 1993, CNN terminated Patti Paniccia’s employment as a reporter in the Los Angeles bureau. It is her hope that the notion of parental responsibility will eventually be integrated into the workplace, and recognized as a valuable and necessary devotion of time and energy for both men and women. In 1994, Patti Paniccia instituted and began teaching Gender and Law classes at Pepperdine School of Law.
This endowed scholarship financially assists students who have dependent children. Applicants must be in good academic standing and responsible for 50% or more of the active parenting of a dependent child. Application period closes on November 3rd.
