Los Angeles County Supervisors Tap Anthony Miller for Employee Relations Commission
November 25, 2014 -- Los Angeles County supervisors have appointed Pepperdine School of Law professor Anthony Miller to the Employee Relations Commission. The three-person commission rules on hundreds of labor disputes annually, but has not had a quorum in over a year due to disagreements between unions and management. Miller was confirmed to the position by a 4-0 vote. The position had been open since 2013.
Miller, a specialist in employment and family law, has taught at Pepperdine Law since 1977. He has served as a dispute resolution neutral in both areas of interest: as a divorce mediator and as a labor arbitrator. He is currently on the panel of arbitrators of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, and he is a vice-chair of the City of Los Angeles Employee Relations Board.
