James Azadian (JD '01) named to Daily Journal's "Top 40 Under 40"

Azadian (JD '01) is featured in the "Top 40 Under 40,"  which was published by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal on April 12.  The annual list honors outstanding lawyers under the age of 40 who have made significant legal accomplishments in their respective practice areas. Azadian is a shareholder at Enterprise Counsel Group ALC, located in Irvine, California.

Excerpt from "Top 40 Under 40":

Azadian specializes in complex federal and state civil appeals with an emphasis on the First Amendment and California's anti-SLAPP statute.

He represented a New York Times best-selling author who was sued in a putative class action based upon financial advice published in his book.

"In the trial court, my client had lost the anti-SLAPP motion ... and I took the appeal to the Ninth Circuit," Azadian said.  He argued his client's free speech rights were protected by statute, and the appellate court agreed with Azadian and remanded the case to trial court.
