In Memoriam: Judge Beverly L. Bourne (JD '91)

Pepperdine Caruso Law alumna Judge Beverly L. Bourne (JD '91) passed away on March 2. Judge Bourne served on the Los Angeles Superior Court. She was appointed to the bench in 2013 by then-governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.  Prior to her appointment, Judge Bourne served as a senior trial attorney for the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender's Office. 

Judge Bourne received the Alumnus Award at Caruso Law's Belonging Awards in 2022, and was a beloved member of the Pepperdine Caruso Law community.  She often spoke to prospective and current law students about her career in the law, and maintained close relationships with alumni from her class. 

Professor Emeritus and Senior Vice Chancellor Janet Kerr (JD '78) said, "Beverly was one of my dearest students and I knew from the start she would was not only one of the finest individuals I had ever met but that she would achieve great things in her career and make a difference in people’s lives. She will be dearly missed.”
