Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning 2022 Application | Due November 5

Attention 3Ls interested in estate planning! Are you thinking about practicing in the field of Wills and Trusts? Are you interested in attending THE premier estate planning conference, the 56th Annual Heckerling Institute, January 10-14, 2022 in Orlando, Florida? Registration is free for law students. I have obtained funding to pay the airfare, hotel & meals for one Pepperdine student to attend. This is a great opportunity for you to meet over 3,000 highly experienced estate planners from all over the country. It would require you to miss a week of classes in January. (I'm sure you'll live).

Previous recipients of this award have gone on to practice in estate planning with law firms in Southern California such as Loeb & Loeb, Albrecht & Barney in Irvine, and AFRCT in Pasadena.

If you receive this award, you are designated the "2022 Dean's Heckerling Fellow."

If you are interested in this opportunity, please:

1. Go to the University of Miami Law School's website for the Heckerling Institute to see more specifically what is offered at the conference at Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning.

2. To apply for a scholarship to pay your expenses, write a short memo (1-3 pages) to Professor Knaplund indicating why YOU should be the one to attend. For example, with 3,000 attorneys there, what 2 or 3 things would you do before the conference, and once at the conference, to meet attorneys where you are interested in working?

3. Deadline to email your memo to Professor Knaplund: Friday, November 5, 2021 at 5 PM. Email is kris.knaplund@pepperdine.edu. Since this is an annual event, 3Ls will receive preference over 2Ls.

4. Questions? Please contact Professor Knaplund.
