Ellie Ritter Wins Judicial Clerkship Opinion Writing Prize 2024

Pepperdine Caruso Law third-year student Ellie Ritter has been selected as the winner of the national Judicial Clerkship Opinion Writing Prize from Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law. She received the award after being selected to participate in the fourth annual Judicial Clerkship Opinion Writing Conference, which took place on February 22–24. Ritter was one of 35 participants, selected among individual law students from across the country, each of whom will be clerking during the 2024–2025 term.

Conference participants received opinion-writing instruction from federal appellate and district judges. Each participant was required to submit a mock judicial opinion based on a First Amendment problem, and the opinions were judged by the faculty of federal judges. Ritter's opinion received first place.
