DeMaurice F. Smith served as executive director of the National Football League Players' Association (NFLPA) for over 14 years. Pepperdine Caruso Law is honored to have Professor Smith on campus for Spring 2024 to teach Law, Leadership, and Ethics to our law students. At this session open to the public, Professor Smith will be in conversation with Professor Maureen Weston, Brandon Leopoldus, and Bobby Hacker, from the Sports Lawyer Association, and Caruso Law student Taylor Jennings to reflect on his years leading the NFL Players' Association, the process of collective bargaining, strikes, and other major issues impacting players, activism, ethics, advocacy, the Rooney Rule, and what he sees as the most significant issues facing labor relations and the NFL.
