Clinical Law professors participate in CLEA and ABA Conferences

Baker, Tanya Asim Cooper, and Brittany Stringfellow Otey, and director Isai Cortez are participating in the CLEA New Clinicians Conference and AALS 40th Annual Conference on Clinical Legal Education, titled "Serving the Client in Tumultuous Times: Fostering Responsibility to Individuals, Communities, and Society in Clinical Legal Education." The conferences are taking place on May 6-9 in Denver, Colorado.
- Professor Stringfellow Otey is leading the "Working Group on Poverty Law" at the AALS conference.
- Professor Cooper is presenting "Feminist Legal Theories and Theologies on Domestic Violence in Christian Churches" at the AALS conference. This is part of her cross-school collaboration with Dr. Roslyn Satchel, funded with a grant from the Pepperdine Provost.
- Professor Baker is on the organizing committee for the CLEA conference and is presenting "The Lay of the Land in Legal Education" with Jodi Balsam (Brooklyn). He also is speaking at the AALS Clinical and Experiential Law Program Directors Workshop on balancing interests and best practices in externship and clinical programs with Ann Marie Cavazos (Florida A&M). In addition, he is speaking at a session on navigating the complexities of the clinical job market with Wendy Bach (Tennessee) and D'Lorah Hughes (UC-Irvine). Finally, he is leading the working group on Community Economic Development with Etienne Toussaint (Georgetown).
