March 3, 2017 | By Alexa Brown— The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) held a lunchtime event complete with "Black-American traditional Soul Food Plates: Fried Chicken Plate, Fried Shrimp Plate, Vegan Plate, and sides of Collard Greens, Rolls, Cornbread, Potato Salad, Mac & Cheese, and Pound Cake or Sweet Potato Pie." Speakers included a beautiful rendition of "Lift every voice and sing," by Stephanie Chukwu accompanied by Kevin Reddington on piano, and snippets of history presented by E.J. Myles and Everett Dailey. BLSA President Brittany Porter moderated and introduced Special guest Louis Gossett, Jr. He spoke on his life growing up, inspiration he drew from his great grandmother, and touched upon his perseverance in acting.
