Adjunct Professor Shaphan Roberts Leads Workshop on Racial Equality for San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission

Adjunct Professor Shaphan Roberts helped design and co-lead the facilitative Workshop on Racial Equality for the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) on October 6. The workshop focused on the development of BCDC’s Racial Equity Action Plan. The BCDC staff laid the groundwork for a Racial Equity Action Plan for the agency. Roberts's role was to help present the plan and to facilitate an internal learning process and conversations with partners to identify issues and opportunities to address systemic biases and chart a path toward a more racially equitable agency.

The project included consultation on outreach, community and stakeholder identification and engagement, and workshop design. The overarching goal and intention of the workshop was to make sure the final goals and objectives of BCDC's Racial Equity Action Plan reflected the ideas and values of stakeholders of their community.
