Professor Tom Stipanowich Participates in International UNCITRAL Academy Program
On September 7, Professor Tom Stipanowich was a panelist on a program, "Future Trends in International Dispute Resolution," at the UNCITRAL Academy 2021 as part of a virtual Singapore-based conference celebrating the second anniversary of the Singapore Convention on Mediation.
The panel was moderated by Nadja Alexander, Professor of Law at SMU Yong Pung How School of Law and Director, Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy. Other panelists included Ms Chittu Nagarajan, President, International Council for Online Dispute Resolution (ICODR) and Fellow National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution (NCTDR); Mr Daryl Chew, Partner and Head of Singapore Office, Shearman & Sterling; Chairman, Maxwell Chambers; and Evgeny Raschevsky, Partner and Co-Head of International Arbitration and Litigation Practice, Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners.
Professor Stipanowich headlined the panel with a discussion of the developing use of "mixed mode" dispute resolution, which includes stepped dispute resolution processes and other forms of interplay between mediation, evaluation, and adjudication.
