Professor Sukhsimranjit Singh Publishes Daily Journal Article on “Cross-Border Conflicts: Mediating Across Cultures"
On June 27, professor Sukhsimranjit Singh published an article in the Daily Journal on "Cross-Border Conflicts: Mediating Across Cultures." The article addresses the ways in which mediation and mediation skills may be used to help solve seemingly intractable, cross-cultural disputes.
Writing from his years of experience working to build bridges across cultural groups in seeking to resolve conflict, Professor Singh discusses the differences that can divide, yet unite, parties in conflict. Addressing the cultural coding that often goes unnoticed and unrecognized by those engaged in conflict, Professor Singh encourages readers to engage these ways of thinking with five key takeaways that anyone may use when seeking to cross the divide of cultural differences, which are: 1) Be confident, 2) Listen, 3) Prepare and be present, 4) Challenge yourself, and 5) Be wise.
