Pepperdine Law Hosts "The Cannabis Law Issue and Policies Symposium"

April 23, 2019 | On Friday, April 19, Pepperdine Law hosted "The Cannabis Law Issue and Policies Symposium." The conference brought together a variety of industry professionals to discuss the political, legal, and economic implications related to cannabis law.

Attorney Stephen Fisch began the event with his presentation on The History of Cannabis Law. Next, Meital Manzuri, one of the nation's top-ranked cannabis attorneys, discussed Women in Cannabis and Beyond. One of California's forefront cannabis business attorneys, Ariel Clark, then presented the case for Cannabis, Social Justice, and the Tribes. Allison and Madison Margolin led a panel discussion entitled, Legalization - Who Wins? Allison, a founding partner of Margolin & Lawrence, was one of the very first attorneys to specialize in cannabis, and is recognized nationwide as a "thought leader in cannabis licensing and law." Madison is a journalist specializing in writing on cannabis for publications like Rolling Stone. Tom Zuber later spoke on Cannabis IP, and Chris Hickock concluded the symposium with his talk on Managing Cannabis Clients.

Second-Year law student Jordan Ash organized and moderated the symposium. The CLIPS symposium was sponsored by The American Bar Association (ABA), The Pepperdine Law Criminal Law Society, and the American Constitution Society.
