Pepperdine, IJM, and Gary Haugen Forge Deeper Ties

Pepperdine law students were once again the only in the country to have the privilege of taking a class taught by International Justice Mission President Gary Haugen. Over the course of ten days this spring, Haugen and Professor Gash co-taught a seminar course on International Criminal Law that focused on Haugen's highly acclaimed book The Locust Effect. Haugen has taught this class each spring exclusively at Pepperdine for the past five years, and the relationship between Pepperdine and IJM is deepening.

Professor Gash continues to work closely with the IJM field office directors in Uganda, and four Pepperdine law students will be interning for IJM this summer, one each in Washington, DC, Guatemala, Uganda, and the Philippines. Additionally, Pepperdine hosted four Guatemalan IJM lawyers this spring for a week-long study tour in Southern California that explored possible avenues for improving the rule of law in Guatemala. Haugen is scheduled to return to Pepperdine in the spring of 2017 to teach another course, and Haugen is one of the lead endorsers of Gash's Divine Collision.
