Pepperdine Caruso Law Team Wins First Place at Sports and Recreation Law Association Graduate Case Study Competition
Pepperdine Caruso School of Law students Matt Hand and Taylor Jennings earned a first-place finish at the Sports and Recreation Law Association (SRLA) Graduate Case Study Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 24. The competition was part of a multi-day conference commemorating 50 years of Title IX in college athletics.
In a simulated sexual harassment lawsuit, the Caruso Law team argued to extend multiple circuits’ decision to impute Title VII liability onto employers for coworker retaliation to analogous Title IX claims alleging student-on-student retaliation. Industry leaders and SRLA members served as judges for the presentation.
