Pepperdine Caruso Law Hosts Nootbaar Fellows Conference 2023
Pepperdine Caruso Law hosted the annual Nootbaar Fellows conference on February 2-3. The conference consisted of workshops and paper presentations by law and religion scholars from universities across the nation. Presentations included "Favoritism, Coercion and the Establishment Clause" by Christopher C. Lund; "On Compelling Interests and the Costs of Freedom" by Netta Barak-Corren; "The Myth of Second-Class Free Exercise" by Frederick Gedicks; "Mysterizing Religion" by Marc DeGirolami; and "Effecting Free Exercise and Equal Protection" by Laura Portuondo.
The Nootbaar Fellows Program at Pepperdine Caruso Law brings together a community of distinguished scholars in the law and religion field. Through regular workshops and conferences, Nootbaar fellows share innovative research and academic projects with the ultimate goal of deepening knowledge and wisdom in the field of law and religion.
