Pepperdine Caruso Law Hosts Conversation with Visiting Professor DeMaurice Smith
Pepperdine Caruso Law hosted the event "In Conversation with DeMaurice Smith," sponsored by the Palmer Center and organized and facilitated by professor Maureen Weston. Smith served as the executive director of the National Football League Players Association for nearly 15 years. He is a current visiting professor at Caruso Law teaching the course Law, Leadership, and Ethics.
In a panel co-moderated by third-year Caruso Law students Taylor Jennings and Matteson Landau, along with sports law attorneys Brandon Leopoldus and Robert Hacker, Smith discussed his experience and insights on advocating for NFL players in reaching seminal collective bargaining agreements and working with the NFL managements. He also spoke on his teaching goals related to his professional career.
