Mark Cramer (JD '98) Secures Settlement in Landmark San Diego Ponzi Scheme

Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus Mark Cramer (JD '98) led a legal team that secured a settlement of more than $22.6 million for victims of a fraudulent investment scheme. Cramer is a shareholder at Buchalter. The Buchalter team secured a settlement from Chicago Title on behalf of approximately 80 victims of a fraudulent liquor license investment scheme devised by a former restauranteur. 

The investment scheme was recently featured on a CNBC episode of American Greed titled “California Schemin’,” in which Cramer appears. The following day, a federal court judge formally approved a global settlement between Chicago Title and the remaining victims of the scheme.
