Kennington Groff (JD '17) Founds the Law Office of Kennington Groff in Atlanta
July 10, 2018 | Kennington Groff, former President of the Pepperdine Law Sports & Entertainment Law Society (SELS), recently opened her own law practice in her native Atlanta, Georgia. The Law Office of Kennington Groff will specialize in Entertainment Law, Small/Online Businesses, Intellectual Property and Web Development.
While at Pepperdine, Kennington gained valuable experience working with top entertainment executives at HBO, NBCUniversal, and Lionsgate in their business and legal affairs offices in Los Angeles and New York City.
Kennington commented: "Throughout my time at Pepperdine, I became heavily involved with the Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SELS) serving as a 1L Representative, then Secretary, and finally President. Once I joined SELS my first year of law school, not only did I make friends and mentors who were pursuing similar interests in the entertainment industry as myself, but I also met a lot of very successful people who were working in the industry and came to speak on panels at Pepperdine. The friends and mentors I met while attending Pepperdine are invaluable to my time now as a business owner. Every time I had the opportunity to listen to individuals on the panels speak about their career paths and how they made it, I gained valuable insight into the industry and made a new friend when I would grab a coffee or lunch with a panelist. Some of these meetings turned into internships, but more importantly they turned into relationships that I still maintain today."
"Pepperdine's close-knit community between the faculty, administration, and students, allowed me to form lasting relationships which are the backbone of any successful business. Being a leader on campus, working several internships, and taking law school classes all at the same time kept me busy, but allowed me to grow both professionally and personally and gave me the confidence I needed to know that I could run a successful firm on my own."
Congratulations, Kennington - we wish you nothing but success as you begin this new endeavor.
