Jordan Matthews (JD '16, MDR '17) Argues Against Steve Wynn and Wynn Las Vegas in Ninth Circuit

Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus Jordan Matthews (JD '16, MDR '17), a partner at Weinberg Gonser, LLP, recently argued before a distinguished Ninth Circuit panel of judges, which included Judge Jay S. Bybee, Judge William A. Fletcher, and Judge Paul J. Watford. Matthews is co-lead counsel on the highly-publicized matter against Steve Wynn and Wynn Las Vegas, which emanates from the circumstances that led to Steve Wynn's resignation as the Chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts, Ltd., the parent company of Wynn Las Vegas, in 2018.

A Wall Street Journal article in January 2018 surrounding allegations of misconduct against Steve Wynn led to investigations by the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and resulted in $55 million in fines against the publicly-traded company. Matthews and his team have been actively litigating these issues on behalf of the plaintiff in various venues, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Nevada District Court, and the Eighth Judicial District, Clark County. The litigation involves numerous issues including equitable estoppel of the statute of limitations.
