In Memoriam: Ronald R. Helm (JD '76)

April 10, 2018 | Pepperdine Law alumnus and former Associate Dean, Ronald R. Helm (JD '76), passed away on February 5 in Bellevue, Washington. Helm completed his undergraduate studies at Abilene Christian University, and then came to Pepperdine Law School when it was located in Anaheim, earning his juris doctor in 1976.  After graduation, he was founder and Managing Partner of Helm, Purcell & Wakeman, with offices in Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Ana, and Westlake Village, California. After practicing law, Helm came back to Pepperdine to serve as an Associate Dean. When he needed to go to Northern California to address a serious health issue, he became General Counsel of ComputerLand Corporation, and Managing Director of ComputerLand Europe. When his health stabilized he returned to Pepperdine and his Associate Dean position. At the time of his passing he was CEO and principal owner of Pacific Biomarkers, serving in those capacities since August 2002. He had held senior management positions in the biotech industry since 1992. Helm was the first recipient of Pepperdine Law School's Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award.

Ronald Helm is survived by his son, Jason Helm, daughter-in-law, Susan Helm, and two grandchildren, Hunter and Audrey Helm.
