September 28, 2016 -- Professor Gregory S. McNeal spoke today on a panel titled "Drones: Balancing Benefits and Challenges" at the Rural County Representatives of California Annual Conference. The conference is being held September 28-30 in Olympic Valley, California.
From the conference agenda:
Drones: Balancing Benefits and Challenges
The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, more commonly known as drones, by private citizens
and commercial entities alike has drastically increased over the past decade. As the
use of drone technology becomes more prevalent, state and local governments have an
interest in regulating to protect the privacy and safety of their constituents. Drone
technology also provides local governments with a new set of tools to conduct surveillance,
emergency response, drought management, and property assessments, among other practical
applications. Join us to hear leading experts discuss complex federal and state drone
policy, and hear how local governments and commercial entities are using drone technology,
and how state and local regulatory efforts are being carried out to advance public
safety and privacy.
