Adjunct Professor Shaphan Roberts Facilitates Virtual Community Dialogue in Windsor Hills
On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Shaphan Roberts participated in a virtual community dialogue to address a traffic collision which caused multiple fatalities on August 4, 2022. Mr. Roberts serves as an adjunct professor as well as the Director of Online Programs at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. The dialogue aimed to address the community trauma surrounding this horrific incident, including addressing the first responders, witnesses, and surrounding motorists who were present on that day.
The program was led by Your Community Cares, an organization started by community leader Cheryl Epps, which offers healing and connection through this crisis. Participants gathered in small groups with a trauma-informed mediator to discuss the impact of this catastrophe. This forum provided a safe space for participants to receive and lend dynamic community support, while sharing their experiences. Cheryl Epps, current Straus student and longtime community advocate, led the effort to convene this community event, and she also participated in the facilitation of dialogue.
