50 for 50 Spotlight: Cailey Stuebner ('15, MDR '16)

"In my day to day work, I often find myself leaning into my Straus learnings when I consider employment law, empathize with employees, facilitate group discussions, and coach managers."

A double graduate of Pepperdine University, Cailey Stuebner is passionate about connecting people through their differences and making an impact in her workplace. As a professional in the field of human resources, she works towards this passion by promoting a positive employee experience, partnering with the business, & focusing on culture, transformation, & strategy.

Cailey graduated from the Straus Institute's Master of Dispute Resolution program in 2016. While a student, she served as a Dispute Resolution intern with the Federal Mediation and Conception Service in Washington, D.C. After obtaining her MDR, Cailey went on to attend the Siemens Graduate program, based in Munich, Germany, where she trains in a global HR rotational program.

"I love being a part of a global community," Cailey says, "which is something that I have had the opportunity to experience at both Straus and Siemens. In my two and a half years at Siemens, I have worked in three countries, learned another language and embraced three distinct working cultures. My favorite moments have been in collaborating, sharing ideas, and connecting with colleagues from around the world."

She adds, "Most strikingly, I find myself actively engaging in difficult conversations, recognizing that these moments are opportunities to understand others better by 'going below the line,' and listening for their why. In my day to day work, I often find myself leaning into my Straus learnings when I consider employment law, empathize with employees, facilitate group discussions, and coach managers."

As Pepperdine Caruso Law celebrates its fifty-year anniversary, Cailey says that she looks forward to many more years of celebrating and embracing diversity in our global alumni community.

Pepperdine's Master of Dispute Resolution (MDR) is available for students looking to work in a variety of law and non-law areas. For more on the MDR program, visit the Straus Institute website.
