Sergio Becerra (JD '18) and Derek Newman (JD '96): Evidence in Patent Cases

September 20, 2018 | Pepperdine Law alumni Sergio Becerra (JD '18) and Derek Newman (JD '96) coauthored a chapter in Evidence in Patent Cases, published in August by Bloomberg Law and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Evidence in Patent Cases explains the use of evidence as it relates specifically to the issues encountered in patent litigation. Experienced patent attorneys throughout the country contributed as authors.

Derek represents clients in high-stakes litigation, mostly involving intellectual property and Internet issues. He also has substantial business experience, and represents clients in corporate transactions. Sergio represents inventors and companies before the US Patent Office, prosecuting patents covering a wide variety of technologies, with a special emphasis on software. Sergio recently joined Derek's group of IP practitioners at Newman Du Wors LLP.
