Prominent Rabbinical Court Expert Yona Reiss Visits Dispute Resolution and Religion Class

On October 11, Rabbi Yona Reiss visited the Dispute Resolution and Religion class taught by Sarah Nissel, director of the Faith and Family Mediation Clinic. Among other things, the course explores how religion has been both an historic cause of conflict and a mechanism for achieving peace. Rabbi Reiss presented on the topic of how Jewish law, theology and practice are used to settle conflicts in commercial and family disputes and discussed with the students specific tools and strategies that can be applied in their future practice. Rabbi Reiss is an internationally renowned expert in rabbinical courts, which serve as a forum for arbitrating disputes according to Jewish law.
