Professor Trey Childress Speaks on International Space Law at U.S. State Department Advisory Committee on Private International Law

On December 12, 2022, Professor Donald Earl "Trey" Childress participated in a meeting of the U.S. State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Law. The committee, which advises the State Department on the practice of international law, is composed of leading practitioners and scholars in the field. Among other matters, the committee discussed legal questions related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and proposals for a special tribunal on the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

Professor Childress presented on a panel on international space law, with particular emphasis on how liability should be determined and through what dispute resolution mechanism.

Professor Childress also serves on the U.S. State Department’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law, which advises the State Department on the practice of private international law.
