Professor Sukhsimranjit Singh and Judge Danny Weinstein to Host Global Conversation on Conflict in COVID-19
Professor Sukhsimranjit Singh and Judge Danny Weinstein, both international mediators and experts on resolving diverse and challenging conflicts, will host a global conversation, "Cross-Cultural Challenges in COVID-19," on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 11:00 am PDT. The free event will be offered online and across time zones around the world. Nearly 800 participants--including students, alumni, ADR practitioners, and friends of Straus--have registered and come from a variety of sectors and industries.
The webinar will cover challenges COVID-19 poses for cross-cultural relationships, strategies to de-escalate conflict, and ideas to foster unity and help rebuild communities. Space is extremely limited and registration is required here.
Professor Singh is an international mediator and expert in cross-cultural dispute resolution, who has mediated diverse and challenging conflicts between individuals, cities and constituents, and large-scale organizations and their employees. He serves as Managing Director for the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, where he oversees the Institute's global outreach efforts, world-class professional training programs, and rigorous academic curriculum. His practice, teaching, and scholarship focus on cross-cultural dispute resolution, faith-based mediation, and utilizing modern theories, science, and technology to devise creative solutions for global disputes.
Judge Daniel Weinstein is recognized as one of the premier mediators of complex, multi-party, high-stake cases, both in the United States and abroad. He co-founded JAMS, and in 2008, he launched the Weinstein JAMS International Fellowship Program to provide ADR professionals outside the U.S. an opportunity to learn about and advance ADR practices in their countries and beyond. In 2018, in response to increasing global challenges and conflicts, Judge Danny founded the Weinstein International Foundation to expand this network and enhance the fellows' capacity to mediate disputes in their communities, both locally and across borders. The Straus Institute honored Judge Danny on January 23, 2020 with its highest honor, the Peacemaker Award, for his dedication to advancing mediation and promoting peace around the world.
