Professors Michael Helfand and Deanna Newton Participate at Festschrift for Professor Ellen Aprill

Professors Michael A. Helfand and Deanna S. Newton served as commentators at a festschrift, live symposium, and celebration in honor of Loyola Law School Los Angeles professor Ellen Aprill on March 23. Aprill served for two years in the Office of Tax Policy in the United States Department of the Treasury in Washington, DC prior to joining the Loyola Law School faculty in 1989. Publications such as the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and Politico frequently quote Aprill on such diverse issues as tax strategy patents, the political activities of exempt organizations, laws applicable to religious organizations, and the use of dictionaries in statutory interpretation.
