Professor Colleen Graffy Interviewed on Russia Sanctions -- Times Radio UK
Professor Colleen P. Graffy was interviewed on Times Radio UK after The Times London revealed that hundreds of millions of pounds of UK property are held by the family members of sanctioned individuals with links to the Kremlin, thereby allowing oligarchs to hide their money. She discussed the work of the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control which added 2,400 individuals, 115 vessels, and 19 aircraft to its Specially Designated Nationals list since February 2022.
Professor Graffy pointed out that sanctions aren’t static and must constantly change as the Kremlin finds ways to evade them. She added that the purpose of sanctions are to frustrate and make Russia’s war effort more difficult, and are not expected to single-handedly convince Russian President Vladimir Putin to withdraw from Ukraine.
