Pepperdine Law Students Visit CAA Agent Jonas Brooks (JD '07)

March 13, 2019 | On February 26, a group of Pepperdine Law students from the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law visited alumnus Jonas Brooks (JD '07, MBA '06) at Creative Artists Agency in Century City.

Jonas shared with the students about his career, how he got his start at CAA, and what he does on a daily basis at the agency.  Jonas emphasized the importance of humility, hard work, and strategic planning involved in a career in the entertainment industry.  Prior to starting in the mail room at CAA, Jonas practiced civil litigation while making plans to follow his passion to go into the entertainment industry.

The students asked about his biggest "wins" and biggest "losses" as an agent, how to succeed in the entertainment industry, what skills he learned from law school and his MBA degree, and the positives and negatives of working in the industry.

Jonas currently works in the television department, representing studios, writers, directors, producers and creative talent in the television industry. He has been at CAA for nine years, and worked his way up from an assistant position to the role of agent. Jonas majored in Business at USC as an undergraduate, and earned a dual JD/MBA degree from Pepperdine Law.
