Pepperdine Caruso Law Moot Court Team Wins Top Awards at Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition
Pepperdine Caruso Law 's Moot Court Team swept all the top awards at the 2022 Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition Los Angeles Regional. Third-year students Uni Kim and Jonathan Maseng were awarded Best Brief and finished in third place in the regional. Second-year students Aislinn McManus and Patrick Ryan were awarded Best Oralists and finished in first place in the regional. Both teams were coached by Caruso Law alumna Karin Lang (JD '21).
Teams from around the country competed in six regionals, and only 12 teams, including McManus and Ryan, advanced to the National rounds, which will be held in March. The Pepperdine teams argued in front of various judges presiding on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, including the Honorable Phillip S. Gutierrez, the Chief Judge of the Central District, the Honorable Dolly M. Gee, the Honorable Karen L. Stevenson, and the Honorable Alexander F. MacKinnon. The annual Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition is sponsored by the International Trademark Association.
