Pepperdine Caruso Law Moot Court Team Competes in 2021 ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition National Rounds

The Pepperdine Caruso Law moot court team of Ashley Koos (3L) and David Portillo (2L) competed at the national rounds of the 2021 ABA Law Student Division National Appellate Advocacy Competition (NAAC) that took place virtually in Chicago on April 8-10. Koos and Portillo competed as one of 24 teams from six regions to reach the national rounds. They were undefeated in the regional rounds and reached the national octofinal round of the competition.

The team was coached by alumna Sarah George (JD '19) and Moot Court Team Faculty Advisor Mark Kubisch.

The ABA NAAC emphasizes the development of oral advocacy skills through a realistic appellate advocacy experience. The moot court competitors participate in a hypothetical appeal to the United States Supreme Court.
