On June 17, the Pepperdine Caruso Law Disaster Relief Clinic held the 2022 Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County Disaster Preparedness Training Conference. The conference was planned and co-hosted by Caruso Law Executive Director of Externship and Pro Bono Programs Sophia Hamilton, and Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County Director of Pro Bono Skip Koenig. The program included information on FEMA and SBA processes, trauma-informed practices for attorneys, and a panel discussion led by Professor Jeff Baker on current efforts in the California Legislature to respond to the increasing number of disasters, including the impact of climate change. Funding for the conference was provided by Kilpatrick Townsend.
