Pepperdine Caruso Law Congratulates Sophia Ellis

Pepperdine Caruso Law is delighted to congratulate its latest bell-ringer in celebration of post-graduate employment success, Sophia Ellis! Sophia was joined in the joyful festivities by Associate Dean Chalak Richards, directors and members of the Career Development Office, Administrative Offices, and Deans' Suite, and many of her law school friends and colleagues. Joining remotely were Sophia's parents and special family members. Prior to ringing the bell, Sophia took the time to thank her family and friends for their constant support over the past few years.

Following graduation, Sophia will be joining Fisher & Phillips as an associate in their Los Angeles office. She found out about the position through Senior Associate Director Alexis Joyce and the Career Development Office. Sophia interviewed with the firm during the summer of her 2L year and received an offer to join the firm post-graduation. She is excited to begin her career at this dynamic firm!

Sophia is originally from Kona, Hawaii but spent the latter half of her youth in Taiwan, where her parents moved for work. She completed her undergraduate degree at APU where she majored in political science with a concentration in pre-law.  Sophia also studied abroad in South Africa and had the opportunity to work with a non-profit that was doing development work in local schools. Her legal courses and her experiences living internationally inspired her to pursue law school.

While at Pepperdine Caruso Law, Sophia has been a member of the Pepperdine Law Review and pursued several work opportunities, including an externship with Judge Ikuta at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also served as a Teaching Fellow and worked with Professor Colleen Graffy as her Research Assistant.  During fall 2021, Sophia participated in London program, where she competed in International Moot Court.  She is grateful for all of the experiences and professors she has had at Pepperdine and how they have helped prepare her for practice.

Congratulations to Sophia!
